The castle founded by the Přemyslid dynasty in the first half of the 13th
century as a royal property, played the role of a military fortress, especially
in times of political instability.
Týn nad Vltavou is one of the oldest settlements in South Bohemia, situated
on the banks of the river Vltava, not far from the confluence of the Vltava and
Lužnice. The town dates back to the 10th century with the rise of a settlement
with a merchant community.

Thanks to its rich history, architectural monuments and attractive
countryside location, the town of Tábor is one of the Czech Republic´s most
favourite tourist spots. Today, Tábor is the second largest town in South
Bohemia and has become a major transport, economic, administrative and cultural
centre in the region.
The view from Kotnov to the north-west offers charming scenery. Down there
deep among trees glitters the river Luznice, whose water sometimes hurries,
sometimes dawdles towards the town of Bechyne and then further down to the
confluence with the Vltava (Moldau). If you look up, your eye is caught by an
impressive structure on the top of a steep slope above the river. It is the
pilgrimage church of Klokoty.

first monastery in the south Bohemia in 1187.
